EYE-MOVEMENT, DESENSITIZATION, AND REPROCESSING (EMDR)

Everyone has experiences in life that are difficult, but sometimes these experiences have a lasting impact on how we feel even years after the event. Some examples include experiencing or witnessing domestic violence, sexual abuse or assault, surviving a natural disaster, a serious car accident, or exposure to military combat.

The underlying premise of EMDR therapy is the belief that our bodies have the ability to heal from injuries, including emotional trauma. Most of the time, this healing process occurs without any issues or concerns. However there are some experiences that seem to continually affect many areas of our lives as well as our relationships. While EMDR therapy is commonly thought of as an intervention to be used with people who are struggling with Post-traumatic Stress (PTSD), it certainly isn’t limited to extreme traumatic events. In fact, EMDR therapy can be used in any circumstance where an individual still feels negative emotions related to a past memory or experience. Things like an affair or relationship betrayal, losing a job, divorce, death of a loved one, and even having major regrets can create feelings that “stick” with you, and EMDR can help!

If you are struggling with past experiences that continue to affect you today, please reach out to discuss if EMDR therapy is right for you. You can also read more about EMDR therapy on my blog, and by visiting the EMDR International Association Website.

Individual Therapy

Do you know exactly what you would like to work on in therapy? Perhaps you would like to improve your self-confidence or communication skills, or maybe you would like your relationship to be better but your partner isn’t ready to commit to therapy. If you are like many people out there, you may not know exactly what to focus on in therapy because it seems like everything in your life is stressful. Regardless of where you are in your journey, I can help you identify where you want to be, and help you find and develop your inner strength to reach those goals. I have worked with individuals who struggle with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, anger, time-management, work-life balance, and relationship problems. If you would like to discuss your needs further, you can send me a request right now using this Contact Form.
